Meet the hosts

Dr. Stephanie Hansen

Dr. Stephanie Hansen is a Professor in Feedlot Nutrition in the Dept of Animal Science at Iowa State University. An Iowa native, she earned her B.S. from Iowa State and her M.S. and Ph.D. from North Carolina State University. With nearly 100 peer-reviewed papers and over 10 million dollars in competitive funder, the goal of her research program is to refine mineral requirements of cattle, especially related to optimizing growth and resiliency to stress. She has received early career awards in research from Iowa State University and the American Society of Animal Science. Dr. Hansen is a passionate graduate student mentor and teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in animal nutrition and vitamin and mineral metabolism. She co-hosts a podcast on graduate mentoring called Mentoring Matters. Dr. Hansen raises Angus cows and enjoys hiking, photography, and travel. She is also a published fiction author under the name S. L. Hansen.

MSc. Brandi Buzzard

Brandi Buzzard is a cowgirl, rancher, working mom and wife. For more than a decade, she has also been a passionate agriculture advocate, while helping others share their agriculture stories. In 2019, her work in the professional and advocacy arenas led to her selection as a Top 10 Industry Leader Under 40 by Cattle Business Weekly as well as the NCBA Masters of Beef Advocacy Advocate of the Year. She has spoken on MSNBC, FOX, CBS, The Weather Channel and Newsy addressing issues like conservation, beef sustainability and nutrition. She has also visited the White House and spoken to senior White House officials about agriculture and sustainability. Brandi, her husband Hyatt, and their daughters Oakley and Quincy, live in southeast Kansas and own High Bar Cattle Company, a Gelbvieh/Balancer seedstock operation.

Dr. Travis Mulliniks

Dr. Travis Mulliniks is the Glenn & Mildred Harvey Professor of Beef Cattle Management and Associate Department Head at Oregon State University. He received his BS degree in Animal Science from Oklahoma State University. In addition, he earned a MS and PhD in Range Nutrition from New Mexico State University. Dr. Mulliniks’ research objective consist of developing an applied cow-calf program that emphasize economically viable management options through enhanced efficiency, productivity, and nutritional management.

Meet the founder

Dr. Marcio Goncalves

Dr. Marcio Goncalves earned his veterinary degree from UFRGS, a top university in Brazil, and his PhD in applied swine nutrition from Kansas State University and worked as Global Nutritionist for one of the major swine genetic companies where he led nutrient requirement updates, diet formulation & feeding program for nucleus farms, development of nutritional economic models, and reviewing diets from over 100 customers. Currently, he is the founder of Wisenetix, the largest network of podcasts in the agriculture industry.

He has over 15 years of experience in swine production with exposure to over 20 countries and 120 research studies in pig nutrition/production and his life purpose is to create a positive impact in the world through knowledge dissemination in the global ag industry.
